Almost holiday :^)

At the end of the school year, the children of the nursery school right in front of my house get permission to play in the street all day long; so I hung out the window for a while and pushed the button :^)

Horn tree.

I wonder how this cute succulent will evolve and whether it will grow big, what its name is suggesting, I hope so :^)

Have a nice weekend all!

knot thread stitch

the newly released crafts book by Lisa Solomon was in my mailbox the other day :^)
as you can see, there are a few pictures included from the 'Wormhole' series, as well as the 'Sea' series, and you have probably also recognized the beautiful embroidery of Takashi Iwasaki.
More info about the book and list of contributors here.

I found this fabric design in a book about gardens, it was printed for Turnbull & Stockdale in the late twenties;
you'd almost want to get back into your childhood, looking at these :^)

Lots of new stuff at knots, including some mobiles and potholders!

Happy Weekend all!

mobile sculptures by Robert Breer.
I went to see some of Breer's experimental films yesterday night. You can find some on youtube, I love this one, and this one and this one is about the retrospective at Museum Tinguely.
Actually, I love them all :)

About basil.

The plants on the terrace got a real boost, despite the bad weather
from last week; many of them started blooming and the Fatsia Japonica
has doubled in size since early April!
But actually I wanted to show you the basil trick I've learned from
a friend...

you've probably experienced that when you've bought a nice bunch
of basil at the greengrocer, the plant dies after some time, even
when you've put him in a larger pot; that is because to many seedlings
are put together and have no place to grow, and you will damage the
sprouts by tearing them apart,

squeeze a few tips before you eat it all and put them in water,
they start rooting after a week or two and then you can plant them
in the soil, and that's it,
only have to wait for the plant to grow :)
I usually put 3 in one pot.

Have a nice weekend!
