Winter.

I spend a large part of the day under my blanket,
drowsing, with a crate of clementines beside me.
Browsed through my new Gaudesaboos book.
It's an imaginary story about a childrens TV-character
that was very popular in the early sixties.
It is all fake, with manipulated
photos from the Belgian TV archives, but it looks very
real, at least all the merchandising.
It feels like winter started today, freezing cold,
they forecast snow for Tuesday :-)
Are you prepared well, is your roof sufficiently
insulated??
I did some extra croching!!

Briek Oranges.

I made this patchwork together with my mom,
it was my first one.

Briek Snowball.
Tuesday, remember!!!

How to make a pom-pom fleece.

Do you remember the little orange pom-pom fleece
in a post a few weeks ago?
I did some research to figure out how it was made.
Hope this little description is clear enough.

So, you need a wooden frame, the distance between
the nails determines the size of the pom-poms.
There's a space of 3cm between the nails on the example
up here. The height of the nails is also 3cm.
Start the first layer with a strong cotton, you can
see here how the yarn runs round he nails.
Make a ferm knot in the beginning and at the end.
After that, you start winding the nails with a thick
and soft woolen thread.
The more windings the thicker the pom-poms.
At the end, tie off the crossings with a fine strong thread.
The woolen threads are cut through in the middle.

Many thanks to O.M. :-), who helped me with the research.
The coloured photos come from an old Phildar copy.
The Geolite has probably become extinct :-)

Have a nice weekend!

Roasted skull for dinner.

This post is for my sister & Willy; we were in the
bookshop last week to spoil ourselves with some children's
books under the pretence that we needed some
reading matter, just in case we might have young
visitors. :-)
I always wanted to have a book of Pieter Gaudesaboos,
i like his fifties style very much, so i finally bought one.
Anyway, i 'm only posting this to show that the mice on
top of the crane are roasting a skull, however, this little joke has
become invisible in the book, the skull's only a tiny
grey smudge without detail; too bad for an illustrator i
should say so :(
I bought this one and my sister the two cookie books.
The photos from this post come from 'Tommie en de torenhoge
boterham', you can browse it here.
I will make a special post of my book later.
OK, here is the promised SKULL.
Sweet Dreams.

Weird.

I made a copy of this cushion with an opening
on the back to have the possibility to fill it up,
but it started growing breadthways.
OK.
Hope my client likes it.

I'm still not sure my computer is ok now, he also
does weird things beyond my will.
Lets hope the best.

I'm out again. Hope to be back soon.

St Nicolas.

My computer refused to work this week, but
he's repaired now, I can't imagine a better Santa Claus
present at the moment!
Felt somewhat incomplete this week :-), but on the other
hand, I finally started knitting; the warm jumper i
planned for myself is postponed, have to finish this
mini version for my little nephew first.
Still raining here, made myself comfortable :-)

Still live with dirty socks. (mine)
Have a nice St Nicolas' eve everybody! :-)

Arthur's dreams.

Do you ever had fantasies how it would feel
to be inside the brain of a doll?
I sometimes wonder if they do have their
desires, fears and little traumas too , just as we
humans have to go through in our lifetime.
The pics i'm showing here are of course pure
speculation, i made them without Arthur's
knowledge, he would kill me if he knew.
This series of 7 belong to my viewmaster project,
provided that these are not my viewmaster pics
but those of Arthur.
The 'Arthur's N O S' on the photo up here stands for
'Arthur's neverending overdose of slides', i made
this up while posting this, if you know someting
better for 'N O S', please tell me, my english
vocabulary's still very limited.
Have a nice evening and sweet dreams :-)

The pavilion.

The pavilion is designed by Renaat Braem and
build between 1969-1971. You hate or love this style :)
Always free entrance, as well as the park!
At the moment an exhibition of Belgian artist,

Middelheim park.

I had a walk in the Middelheim park with a friend
some days ago.
It is always nice and quiet here, even in the summer-
time. I will show more photos in another post from
the exhibition we saw in the pavilion.
The sausages are from Kati Heck, i think the latest
acquisition, i have never noticed them before anyway.

Doilies Western Style.

I found these three bobbin laced doilies in the second-
hand shop for almost nothing, pretty filthy but intact;
good for a photoshoot Western Style! The rain is still
pouring down today so, there's no lack of nostalgic mood.
Besides, saw an awesome beautiful western last week,
which is still affecting my brain .
OK, here we go.

I'm a fan of 'Deadwood' too...
... and I have a soft spot for bad guy, Al Swearengen :)
All the pics are taken in my room.
