Some stripes.

Some more linen samples in plain weave; I sorted

out the striped ones for this post.

The crocheted detail is a cushion.

Traditional Stripes & Lattices, Kamon Yoshimoto;

from the same series as Traditional Japanese Small Motif.

Little Red Riding Hood.

Edgar Tijtgat (1879-1957) is one of my favourite Belgian artists;

I love his deceptively innocent style and there's

always a longing for the lost paradise expressed in his work.

These woodcuts come from 'Le Petit Chaperon Rouge', also

the entire text and endleaves are printed from woodblocks!

The photo below is Tijtgat in his doorway and his wife Blanche

leaning out of the window. don't know why

the entrance is 1 metre above the ground :-)

I think they were a strange but funny and happy couple,

at least that's the way they look.

Derek Jarman's Garden.

You may remember I made plans for a gardenproject,
well then, because of my touch of flu I couln't go out but,
I had oceans of time to look and read in this wonderful
book of Derek Jarman's garden.
The garden and fisherman's cottage are located in the
south of England, Jarman bought the little house in 1986 and
called it Prospect Cottage.
The garden started accidentally: a driftwood staff was used
to stake a dog rose, flints protected the seedlings.
Over the coming year more beachcombed treasures were added.
I made a selection of photos from the book, i've chosen for the
close-ups, in case you like to see more views look here .

my clock-faced flowerbeds
reflect the orb of the sun.

and mark its setting

Royal mail from UK.

I almost couln't believe my eyes when opening
this present box from the lovely Alessandra.
Everything was wrapped in beautiful papers with
nice strings and buttons and a handmade little bag!
Wow.
Have a look.
One nice Clipper organic green tea, i love that Clipper
design!

I recycled the wrapping material to make a wild

Roasted skull for dinner.

This post is for my sister & Willy; we were in the

bookshop last week to spoil ourselves with some children's

books under the pretence that we needed some

reading matter, just in case we might have young

visitors. :-)

I always wanted to have a book of Pieter Gaudesaboos,

i like his fifties style very much, so i finally bought one.

Anyway, i 'm only posting this to show that the mice on

top of the crane are roasting a skull, however, this little joke has

become invisible in the book, the skull's only a tiny

grey smudge without detail; too bad for an illustrator i

should say so :(

I bought this one and my sister the two cookie books.

The alphabet as cityscape.

The weather was horrible today, i stayed indoors,
nothing special to do, browsing into some old
baselines, bumped into a very cool alphabet,
turned out to be from Peter Grundy, never heard
of this artist.

Old Swedish Quilts.

This book is a real goldmine for quilters, it is full
of beautiful old quilts, along with their stories,
techniques, and portraits of the women who made
them.
All the quilts were found and brought together
by Asa Wettre.

Want this one so badly!!!!
